How Long Is PA School
For undergraduate students, the goal of becoming a physician assistant is a very appealing one. It is a very interesting and rewarding field, but what is the average length of PA school? Many people have a number of questions about the program, including how long it takes and what the average GPA is.
A typical PA program lasts two and a half to four years and includes both clinical and classroom components. Most programs award master’s degrees. The program generally includes five7.3 weeks of classroom instruction and approximately 53 weeks of clinical training. The goal of the program is to give students broad exposure to medicine and clinical practice.
As a prerequisite, an individual must have at least a bachelor’s degree, as well as some previous healthcare experience. Some programs require applicants to have a minimum of three years of healthcare experience. In addition, some programs require applicants to have taken specific prerequisite courses or to have a certain GPA.
